India is the world's most intense, overwhelming, and ultimately rewarding travel destination — a subcontinent of 1.4 billion people, 29 states, and 22 official languages where the ancient and ultra-modern collide at every street corner. The Taj Mahal at dawn, the ghats of Varanasi at sunrise, the palaces of Rajasthan, the backwaters of Kerala, and the Spice Coast of the south combine to create a journey that fundamentally changes how you see the world.

Why India?
- Watch the sun rise behind the Taj Mahal and understand why it has moved every visitor to tears for 370 years.

- Sleep in a converted Maharaja's palace in Udaipur or Jaipur and experience India at its most princely and opulent.
- Drift through the backwaters of Kerala on a converted rice barge — kingfishers, toddy palms, and fishing nets reflected in still water.
- Track Bengal tigers in Ranthambore or Bandhavgarh — India's wildlife reserves protect the highest density of tigers on earth.
- Taste the full breadth of India's extraordinary cuisine: butter chicken in Delhi, fish thali in Goa, biryani in Hyderabad, dosas in Chennai.
- Navigate the sensory explosion of Varanasi's silk weaving lanes, Jaipur's jewellery bazaars, and Mumbai's Dharavi artisans.
- Witness the Holi festival of colors (March) or Diwali festival of lights (October/November) for India at its most joyfully alive.

Insider Travel Tips
Vaccinations & Health
Consult your doctor 6–8 weeks before visiting India for recommended vaccines (typhoid, hepatitis A, rabies pre-exposure). Carry water purification tablets and avoid tap water.
Travel October–March Only
India's summer (April–June) and monsoon (July–September) are brutal in most regions. October–March is the golden season with clear skies and manageable temperatures.
Dress Conservatively
India is conservative outside beach areas. Cover shoulders and knees when visiting temples, mosques, and rural areas. Loose, breathable cotton is both respectful and practical.
Cash is Essential
While cards are increasingly accepted in cities, cash (rupees) is essential in smaller towns, markets, temples, and for tipping. Withdraw from ATMs in main cities.
When to Visit
Winter (Oct–Mar)
Best season in North India 15–25°C. South India year-round. Perfect for the Golden Triangle.
Summer (Apr–Jun)
Extreme heat 40–48°C in the plains. Hill stations (Shimla, Darjeeling) are cool and accessible.
Monsoon (Jul–Sep)
Heavy rain everywhere except Ladakh. Kerala, Goa, and the hills are green and atmospheric. Lower prices.
Festival Season (Oct–Nov)
Diwali (Festival of Lights) and other major Hindu festivals. Book well ahead as domestic tourism peaks.
