Egypt is humanity's greatest open-air museum — a civilization stretching back 5,000 years whose monuments still stand with breathtaking power. The Pyramids of Giza at sunrise, the temples of Luxor and Karnak illuminated at night, a felucca sailing silently past green fields on the Nile, and the sensory explosion of Cairo's Khan el-Khalili bazaar all combine to create one of earth's most transformative travel experiences.

Why Egypt?
- Stand before the Great Pyramid of Khufu at dawn — the only surviving ancient Wonder of the World — and feel 4,500 years of history.
- Cruise the Nile between Luxor and Aswan by traditional felucca or luxury riverboat, the same route pharaohs sailed.
- Walk the vast Karnak temple complex — the world's largest religious building — as the sound and light show illuminates it at night.
- Descend into the Valley of the Kings and stand in the painted tomb of Tutankhamun, untouched since 1323 BC.
- Fly to Abu Simbel and witness Ramesses II's four colossal statues watching over the Sudanese border.
- Explore the Egyptian Museum in Cairo — the world's greatest collection of ancient artifacts, including Tutankhamun's golden death mask.
- Haggle for spices, perfumes, and papyrus in Khan el-Khalili, the medieval bazaar that has operated for 700 years.
- Float in a hot air balloon over the Valley of the Kings and West Bank temples as the sun rises over the Nile.

Insider Travel Tips
Avoid May–September
Egypt's summers are extreme: 40–45°C in Luxor and Aswan. October–April is pleasant. Winter evenings are cool — bring a light layer.
Negotiate Everything
Taxi fares, market prices, and many tour prices are negotiable. Always agree on a price before you start. Learn the words shukran (thank you) and la (no).
Photography at Tombs
Photography is generally allowed in tombs with a permit purchased at the entrance. No flash photography preserves the ancient paint — be respectful.
Food & Water Safety
Drink only bottled water. Avoid salads washed in tap water at less reputable restaurants. Stomach issues are common — carry rehydration tablets and loperamide.
When to Visit
Winter (Dec–Feb)
Ideal weather, 20–25°C days. Peak tourist season. Book Nile cruises and hotels well ahead.
Spring (Mar–May)
Warm and pleasant until May. Khamsin sandstorms possible in March–April.
Summer (Jun–Sep)
Brutally hot 40–45°C. Very few tourists. Extreme discounts. Only consider if you're heat-adapted.
Autumn (Oct–Nov)
Excellent shoulder season. Good weather, fewer crowds, reasonable prices.
